“Arise, O Compatriots” is the national anthem of Nigeria. It was adopted in 1978 and replaced the previous anthem, Nigeria, We Hail Thee.
In 2018 … we call on every Nigerian to rise up to build a great Nigeria by their thoughts, words and actions as we work together towards building a National ideology for the next generation … one man, one idea and one change at a time …
If things will change, it depends on each and every one of us … individually and collectively. As we read the following words of the National Anthem and Pledge, please let each word resonate with you as you pledge to BE the Nigeria you want to see by “LIVING the Legacy you want to LEAVE” … Nigeria at 58 is a time for Birthing the Greatness that is Nigeria.
Every word is part of a sentence … every sentence is part of a picture of the Nigeria we all seek … All you do is let your imagination connect them together, let your voice speak them forth and you deliberately and consciously take actions every day to bring us closer to our goal … Grace, Greatness and Glory as a Nation under God.
Arise, O compatriots
Nigeria’s call obey
To serve our fatherland
With love and strength and faith
The labour of our heroes past
Shall never be in vain
To serve with heart and might
One nation bound in freedom
Peace and unity.
Oh God of creation
Direct our noble cause
Guide thou our leaders right
Help our youth the truth to know
In love and honesty to grow
And living just and true
Great lofty heights attain
To build a nation where peace
And justice shall reign.
The Pledge …
I pledge to Nigeria my country
To be faithful, loyal and honest
To serve Nigeria with all my strength
To defend her unity, and uphold her honour and glory
So help me God.
